REasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) is an academic study awarded to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from the neurological component of the National Institutes of Health. The goal of REGARDS is to help understand why the rates of death from stroke are substantially higher in some parts of the United States (primarily in the southeastern US) and why blacks are more likely to die from stroke than whites. | |
